Interior Design Project
Get a preview of the interior design project behind this renovation of an old house in the center of Plovdiv, Bulgaria.
About
This townhouse was built in the 1930s in the city centre of Plovdiv, Bulgaria. Our client came to us with the brief to turn this gem into a mid-century revival interior by using textures, patterns and fabrics combined with modern features. As part of this project, we had to change the layout of the space to accommodate a new, larger kitchen and a bigger bathroom, and we made plans for the conversion of two basement spaces into a home office and a cinema room.
The renovation work under our supervision was completed in March 2025 and handed over to the client for usage.
Inside the Bathroom
As part of this interior design project, we undertook a full bathroom renovation, transforming the space with a fresh, modern aesthetic while maintaining functionality and comfort. The renovation involved reconfiguring the layout, updating all fixtures, and installing new tiling, lighting, and custom cabinetry.
One of the client’s key requirements was to have the shower completely isolated from the rest of the bathroom to prevent water from splashing onto the dry areas. This was achieved through smart spatial planning and the installation of a fully enclosed shower zone. We proudly sourced all materials locally, supporting regional suppliers and ensuring a cohesive design with high-quality finishes.
The craftsmanship was brought to life by skilled local carpenters and tradespeople whose attention to detail and dedication were instrumental in achieving the final result.
Inside the Bedroom
The bedroom renovation focused on creating a calm, elegant atmosphere with carefully curated details and bespoke elements. The bed and bedframe were custom-made through a furniture project by Architect Andres Lopez, designed to seamlessly integrate with the room’s overall aesthetic. The textile for the headboard and soft furnishings was hand-selected from a local textile shop, adding a layer of texture and warmth.
For the bedside tables, we modified ready-made pieces by attaching custom-cut white marble countertops sourced from local providers, creating a refined and cohesive look that ties the entire space together.
Inside the Kitchen
The kitchen renovation was designed with both functionality and longevity in mind, tailored to meet the client’s specific request for a taller-than-standard layout.
The countertop was custom-built at a height of 1 meter from the floor, offering enhanced comfort and practicality for the client’s daily use. The entire kitchen was custom-designed by Architect Andres Lopez to perfectly fit the layout of the space, carefully following the natural curves of the walls and ensuring that every inch was thoughtfully utilized.
To guarantee durability and withstand intensive usage over time, we selected high-quality black granite stone for the work surfaces, combining resilience with a sleek, timeless finish.
The result is a highly functional and elegantly tailored kitchen that seamlessly integrates into the architectural character of the home.
Inside the Living Room
The living room renovation aimed to create a warm, inviting atmosphere that feels both cosy and functional, serving as the home’s main reception area for guests as they enter. The space features a mix of decorative elements and accessories sourced from various shops, adding character and depth to the design. The main furniture pieces were custom-designed by Architect Andres Lopez and brought to life by skilled local furniture makers, ensuring both quality and a tailored fit for the space.
One of the key challenges was designing a versatile layout that could serve as a comfortable reading nook while also functioning as a practical workspace.
The result is a thoughtfully curated living room that balances relaxation and utility while making a strong first impression.

Inside the Office
The office was created by converting an old basement into a bright and functional home workspace, designed to be the client’s main working area within the house. Given the limited natural light typical of a basement, the design focused on maximizing brightness through the use of light colours and finishes that help capture and reflect available daylight throughout the space. All the carpentry in this area was custom-designed by Architect Andres Lopez and expertly executed by a local carpenter, ensuring every element fits seamlessly with the walls, curves, and unique layout of the space.
The shelving and decorative details were tailored to reflect the client’s personal tastes while also serving as practical storage for items they wished to display.
The result is a thoughtfully transformed basement that feels open, personal, and purpose-built for everyday work.
Inside the Cinema
The cinema room was created by converting an old basement into a multifunctional space designed for both entertainment and social gatherings.
The design was carefully planned to allow the room to be completely darkened for an immersive cinema experience, while also offering ample lighting for use as a board games lounge.
All furniture and soft fittings were custom-designed by Architect Andres Lopez to perfectly suit the dimensions and mood of the space. Every element was crafted to create a cosy, comfortable atmosphere—ideal for watching movies, playing video games, or enjoying long evenings of board games with friends.
The result is a warm, inviting space that blends functionality with a strong sense of character and comfort.
